| Some people think that a mirror-like shine applied to your
intake ports improves breathing and horsepower. In fact, we’ve even
heard of some tuners who think so. They couldn’t be more wrong.
Polishing has its place, but so does coarsening the surface to improve airflow and, as a result, better fuel atomization. At FLO Headworks, we’ve developed a unique process we call Tooled Finish. It combines polishing and grinding in critical areas to produce optimal flow and highest real-world horsepower. We apply Tooled Finish to all our Super Port Flow jobs. Our Tooled Finish technique uses special carbide cutters from R&R Specialties to apply a coarse surface to the manifold and port throat, graduating to a finer finish in the seat pocket area, and ending in a high polish starting at the 45-degree portion of the valve seat and down around the radius into the port, approximately ¾ of an inch. |
The result is the best performance your Harley engine is
capable of, regardless of the add-on power equipment you install later.
Because the Tooled Finish of your ports atomizes your fuel perfectly and
increases overall thermal efficiency, your engine will run cooler and
create more power.
Our work and products are guaranteed for one year. For an estimate on your particular application contact us directly by telephone at 805-481-6300. Or you can or e-mail us and receive a quick reply.
